Caspervek Trio was founded in 2013 by pianist Brais González and percussionist Blas Castañer.

Caspervek Trio was founded in 2013 by pianist Brais González and percussionist Blas Castañer. Its first performance was in January 2014, performing an original and improvised score for F. W. Murnau’s Nosferatu. One month later violinist Eduards Vecbastiks joined the duo and together, the three young musicians began to write new soundtracks for the masterpieces of German Expressionism. In its first four months of activity, the band premiered four soundtracks. The local specialized press defined this debut as “the big surprise of 2014”.

In 2015 the band made its first European tour performing in ten countries and notable venues such as the Estonian National Art Museum (KUMU), the Baltais Fligelis Music Hall (Latvia) or Budapest’s Galeria Flux. In summer 2015 Caspervek performed six different movies during Madrid’s Urban Beach Cinema, the largest open-air cinema in Spain. Thousands of persons enjoyed Caspervek’s soundtracks to classics such as The Cabinet of Dr. CaligariThe Adventures of Prince Achmed or Sunrise. Since then, the band has performed over 160 times in 14 different European countries. The trio has played in festivals such as SinSal Festival, Via Stellae or Kalnciema Kvartals and theaters like Rezekne’s GORS (the biggest music hall of the Baltic region), Madrid’s Conde Duque or Lytgen Station Copenhagen.

The style of the trio is characterized by the respect for the movies they score, ranging from classic jazz or folk to electronic or contemporary music. This musical palette is just a tool to build a unique performance environment, where sensory perception has an important role.

The main goal of Caspervek Trio has always been to bring the audience closer to the film heritage. That’s why the educational activities are one of the main activities of the band. Caspervek works together with private and public institutions developing teaching and educational materials. In the last years Caspervek has partnered with the University of Santiago de Compostela, Vigo Film Festival, MAC Museum Coruña, Banska Bystrica’s Záhrada or the Santiago City Council creating unique and interactive activities to show the magic of silent film not only to children but to the general audience.
